Moonset from Hardknott

This image was made from the Hardknott Pass, which looks down over the beautiful Eskdale Valley. Taken just as the sun was to rise directly behind me. The moon was glorious as it rested on top of the shadow of the earth. The Earth’s shadow can be seen when the earth casts a shadow on it’s own atmosphere. It is best observed when there is a low horizon (such as over the sea, as seen here), and when the sky conditions are very clear.. An unforgettable experience, made all the more special by the valley mist, and the fact only my friend and myself, were there to witness the scene !
